In case you missed me on Marketplace
Friday, February 13th, 2009I did a short spot on public radio’s Marketplace on Tuesday. It was a story about the Franciscan’s using subway advertising to find friars-to-be.

If you want to follow the thinking (in short bursts) of the Dalai Lama, now you can. The Dalai Lama is now tweeting. You can find him at http://twitter.com/ohhdl. It’s pretty quiet there so far, but I suspect there will be things of interest coming soon.
From a marketing perspective, of course, this suggests that His Holiness is looking to attract a young audience just like everyone else.
I’m sure many of you watched the 60 Minutes interview yesterday with Captain Chesley “Sully” Sullenberger. If you didn’t, you can watch it here.
What struck more than one person who watch this interview was the question Katie Couric asked about what the captain did during the three and a half minutes when he was trying to land the plane. She asked, “Did you pray?” And his response was something along the lines of “I was too busy think of what I had to do.” And, really, thank God for that.
What would lead a journalist to ask that question? Does Katie pray before she goes to report a story in a war zone? Is it any of our business?
Discuss among yourselves.
